Community Garden
- West Broadway Community Organization — Greenspaces & Environment ↗Runs community allotment gardens including Rock and Horse Gardens. Gardeners volunteer a minimum of 6 hours per year tending communal plots open for public access. Programs include community gardens, farmers markets, good food boxes, and local farm field trips.
- Spence Neighbourhood Association — Environment & Open Spaces ↗Encourages community to maintain green spaces, boulevards, and home areas. Maintains tot lots and community gardens with a community garden application process. Long-running grassroots neighbourhood organization.
- Sustainable South Osborne Community Co-op ↗Community co-op that converts barren public land into fruitful garden spaces. Building community, developing resiliency, and growing food along the way.
- Charleswood Garden Club Community Garden ↗Approximately 45 gardeners work full or partial plots (full plot is 5.5 x 11.5 metres). Fenced enclosure with locked gates, two large water tanks pumped from the river, shared compost area, and natural fertilizer/mulch piles. Members are expected to contribute to collective upkeep.
- Riverview Garden Society ↗Group of enthusiastic gardeners who pay an annual fee in exchange for an allotted garden space in the Riverview Gardens. One of the longer-established neighbourhood gardening societies in Winnipeg.
Food Security / Mutual Aid
- Samaritan House Ministries Community Garden Network ↗Runs a community garden network throughout Winnipeg as part of broader food security and ministry work. Multiple garden sites coordinated under one umbrella.
- Food Matters Manitoba ↗Cultivates leadership by working with community partners, public policy makers, and youth to develop strategies and take action toward a food-secure Manitoba where everyone has what they need to eat well, all the time. Hosts the Food Action Hub with community garden resources.
- North End Food Security Network ↗Grassroots network focused on food security in Winnipeg's North End. Publishes guides on community gardening basics in the city. Active on Facebook.
Gardening Org / Society
- Gardens Manitoba ↗Local non-profit charitable organization focused on raising funds for community gardening projects and providing resources, information, and outreach for horticultural promotion and education across Manitoba. Maintains a province-wide directory of community gardens.
- Manitoba Horticultural Association ↗Provincial body for horticultural societies in Manitoba. Maintains a list of horticultural societies province-wide and publishes a quarterly newsletter with local gardening information.
- St. James Horticulture SocietyLong-running neighbourhood horticultural society serving St. James gardeners with meetings, programs, and community garden coordination. Part of the Manitoba Horticultural Association network.
Farmers Market
- Le Marché St. Norbert Farmers' Market ↗Manitoba's largest farmers' market and Winnipeg's longest-running. A not-for-profit cooperative of hundreds of Manitoba businesses, kitchens, and farms providing only locally produced items. Over 200 local makers, bakers, and growers. Everything sold at the market is made, baked, crafted, and grown in Manitoba.
- The Forks Farmers' Market ↗Summer Sunday market at Winnipeg's iconic gathering place featuring fresh baked goods, preserves, straight-off-the-farm produce, and local treats. Part of The Forks' broader summer programming.
- Downtown Winnipeg Farmers' Market ↗Centrally located market sponsored by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ at Cityplace. Perfect for those looking to grab fresh, local goods during the workweek. Returns each summer with rotating local vendors.
- FortWhyte Farms Farmers' Market ↗FortWhyte Farms is more than a working farm — it's about supporting local businesses and youth. Every dollar spent at the market is reinvested back into the farm and its community programs. Operates a CSA program alongside the market.
